First– I am extremely fortunate that my job allows me to work from home during this global pandemic. I know many do not have the opportunity, and travel is the last thing on their mind. Writing and “daydreaming” is my way to cope with “Shelter-In-Place & Stay-At-Home-Orders” and keeps me hopeful to think of future possibilities. I am a glass-half-empty kind of guy, so here is where I want to travel after coronavirus-Top 3 places I will visit.
We are all trying to find our new routines, & I cannot help but to plan where I want to travel after Coronavirus (once it’s safe). Yes, there are a lot of unknowns, who know when International travel will be back. Most importantly who knows if any of the countries that are on my list, will allow visitors into their country. This list is in no special order, but these are the Top 5 Places I Plan to travel to after Coronavirus.
I want to vist “The Big Mango” Bangkok, Thailand
I first fell in love with Bangkok in 2014, my 1st trip across the Pacific. It’s hard to explain the overpowering senses overload you will experience once you hit the streets of Bangkok. Bangkok has it all, amazing food, the nightlife, cheap massages, and attractions to keep you busy all day. Plus, it’s an affordable city, you can find 5* Hotels for under $150 a night, or 3* hotels around $30 a night. Its value is hard to beat.
Some may find Bangkok intimidating since it is a very populated city with world-famous traffic. What keeps me coming back to Bangkok, besides the amazing food, is the diversity in culture that you find throughout the city. Sure, Bangkok is intense, but there are many hidden gems throughout the city that take you back in time. The Thai people are amazing, there’s a reason why they call Thailand “The Land of Smiles”.
Bangkok is also home to two separate airports. If you’re traveling from an international destination, you will most likely Arrive/Depart from Suvarnabhumi International Airport (BKK) just outside the city center. Their second airport Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) is closer to the city center, and this is where you will find cheap domestic and international tickets to neighboring countries.
The cheap airfare out of Don Mueang (DMK) is one of the reasons Bangkok makes my list. It makes traveling to the southern islands of Thailand affordable. You can visit many Islands, like Phuket, quickly and cheaply. You can find fares consistently under $100. I wouldn’t recommend anyone spend too much time in Phuket, there are much nicer islands nearby that deserve your time.
Travel to Ha Long Bay, Vietnam
There have been so many times I said I was going to spend a week in Ha Long Bay, but I keep putting it off because of all the talk about how it is over-ran with tourists, but once I’m able to travel after Coronavirus, this easily makes my top 3 places to visit.
I have a really good friend, who left his well paying job in the US to Travel. When I find the courage to join him, one of the things we planned on doing together is renting a motorbike to travel the coast of Vietnam from Ho Chi Minh City until Ha Long Bay. This incredible five-day journey would end by exploring the amazing natural landscape of Ha Long Bay. There is so much to see, and do on Ha Long Bay- and I cannot wait to report back on my experience.
Ha Long Bay has approximately 1600 limestone islands that you can explore. There are several amazing beaches to visit, countless caves to explore, and world-famous sunsets to enjoy. I don’t know about you, but I am a sucker for an amazing sunset, and I usually travel out of my way to experience a breathtaking sunset, with an ice-cold beer of course 🙂
Coron, Palawan Island, Philippines
As I continue to write more, one thing will be absolutely clear. I love to travel to beaches, islands, and chase sunsets. Although Palawan continues to increase in popularity, there are still many unspoiled, and white sand beaches to discover. When I finally decide to quit my job & travel the world, click here, Palawan will be one of the 1st places I will travel too. If I had to order my list of Top 3 Places to Travel after Coronavirus, Palawan would most likely be the top place to travel.
I could go on and on about why I want to travel to Palawan. But here are just a few reasons:
- Explore Underground Caves & Rivers
- Island Hopping
- Amazing Scuba Diving or Snorkelling
- Beautiful waterfalls to explore
I know I am just daydreaming right now, like you, I am hoping the World comes together, and we find a way to defeat coronavirus. There are many things worse than being stuck in the house for 30+ days, but I am ready for the day we can get back to Travel, to create and share our amazing experiences with one another. Here are some amazing hotel deals that I spotted today, I do not get paid if you click, I just want to share.
What about you? Have you been to any of my top 3 places to travel? Where are you planning to travel to once we finally defeat coronavirus? Share your plans with me below.
